They would have killed a farmer, and then set the body on fire: four people were arrested by the Carabinieri of the provincial command of Enna and of the Ros.
The victim, 40-year-old Andrea Paternò, was found, charred, in the countryside of Enna in July 2020. The body was inside an off-road vehicle, set on fire, owned by the victim's father, but usually used by Paternò, who had been missing for two days. To give the alarm a man who was on his way to his property, alerted by the stake.
According to what emerged, at the basis of the crime there could be a request for the repayment of a loan of about 20 thousand euros, made by Paternò.
It seems that the man was lured into a trap, killed by gun and knife. The SUV with the body would then be moved and set on fire.
Two of the arrested are also charged with the arson of some wheat fields set on fire last summer. And both the investigated subjects and the victim seem not to have been divorced from contacts with members of the mafia families of Pietraperzia and Barrafranca and, more generally, with mafia contexts, even prominent ones, in the province of Enna.
