Claudia Baccarini Baldi , Italy's supercentenarian, died on Christmas night in her home in Faenza, in the Ravenna area, at the age of 114 .

She was born in Faenza on October 13, 1910 and, in terms of longevity, she was not only the first in Italy, but also the third in Europe and - according to what was reported by Resto del Carlino, which broke the news - among the ten oldest people in the world.

Now the Italian record goes to Lucia Laura Sangenito from Campania , who is a handful of days younger than Claudia Baccarini. First in the Sardinian ranking is Luigia Mercalli , born in Carloforte on 17 February 1915.
