No to the review of the trial which saw Olindo Romano and Rosa Bazzi sentenced to life imprisonment for the Erba massacre of 11 December 2006.
This is the decision of the Court of Appeal of Brescia, chaired by President Antonio Minervini, regarding the request presented by the two spouses.
The judges reached the verdict after a few hours of deliberation and after the judge Guido Rispoli had given up his replies, reiterating his position, namely the inadmissibility of the request presented by the couple. And therefore, even for the magistrates, the alleged new evidence attached to the request for review was not sufficient to reopen the proceedings.
“I really hope there can be a new trial,” Romano said before the hearing. Then, after the sentence, he and his wife expressed "disappointment", announcing, through their lawyer, their intention to present a new appeal.
