The anger of environmentalists has not subsided who, in the wake of the climate protests of recent months, today in Milan wrapped the statue of journalist Indro Montanelli with black and yellow tape . It happened in the Public Gardens of the city, the signature is that of the Extinction Rebellion group .

The monument was also framed by numerous signs with the inscription "Air dangerous for human health". One in particular warns: "In the air you are breathing , pollutants have been detected beyond the safety threshold for human health ". "The park area, as well as the entire Po valley - the eco-environmentalists write in a note - is defined as 'dangerous to human health' by the scientific community, especially for the elderly and children".

Already in recent days, the activists had made the play areas in various parks in the city inaccessible with the help of warning tape. It is not the first time that the journalist's statue has become the object of protests: three years ago it was daubed with paint. According to the militants of Extinction Rebellion «Indro Montanelli is the symbol of a past, but also of a present, built on the myth of infinite growth, of the exploitation of territories, people and resources. This is why we chose this monument, to denounce the short-sightedness of the Italian and regional government with respect to the eco-climate crisis and atmospheric pollution ".
