There is an arrest for the death of Lauretta Toffoli , the 74-year-old found dead yesterday in her apartment in Udine.

A 40-year-old man, Vincenzo Paglialonga , residing in the same building as the victim, ended up in handcuffs. Yesterday, just before noon , the man was arrested by the Volanti for escaping from house arrest, arranged for a robbery. In the afternoon, serious indications of guilt against him emerged from the judicial police activity.

Questioned late in the evening, Paglialonga made use of the right not to answer .

THE RECONSTRUCTION - Toffoli was found dead, half-naked , in a bedroom of her apartment on the second floor of an Ater building, in via della Valle. Among the hypotheses, that of a degenerate robbery , given that a couple of televisions are missing from the victim's home. To give the alarm, in the early afternoon yesterday, was the son, who had visited his mother. The body had several stab wounds .

The area was then isolated by the police for surveys and investigations, carried out by the Flying Squad and the Scientific Police. Further investigations are underway, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Udine.

The death dates back to the night between Friday and Saturday , between one and two in the morning. At home, relatives reported, there were obvious signs of a struggle . "There is no break-in on the door, she let someone she knew into the house," said the victim's former partner, Paolo. "Everything in the apartment was overturned, with obvious traces of a quarrel."

In November 2019 the old woman was attacked by her son , who stabbed her in the abdomen. The man then called 112 and was immediately arrested on charges of attempted murder : the following year, however, he was acquitted as he was declared incapable of understanding and willing , as established by a psychiatric report.
