Luca Spada , a 27-year-old from Meldola (Forlì-Cesena), was arrested as part of the investigation by the Forlì Public Prosecutor's Office, led by prosecutor Enrico Cieri, into the deaths of several elderly people, which occurred within a few months, during or shortly after being transported by ambulance .
Spada, under investigation for voluntary manslaughter, was a Red Cross worker, later suspended, and an emergency vehicle driver. A preliminary investigation judge's detention order was executed against him. The Carabinieri are investigating.
The warrant was executed this morning by the Carabinieri of the Forlì company and the NAS of Bologna. The 27-year-old, according to the Prosecutor's Office, is specifically considered the alleged perpetrator of the aggravated homicide of an 85-year-old woman, which allegedly occurred during a medical transport on November 25th.
"We have just been informed of Luca Spada's arrest as part of the investigation into the ambulance murders, the natural culmination of an investigation conducted with great care by the Forlì Prosecutor's Office. We expected this outcome. At a press conference on Monday, the evidence justifying this significant precautionary measure will be presented, and we will also learn about the investigations into the other deaths." This was stated to ANSA by Max Starni, a lawyer who, together with his colleague Antonio Mambelli, is representing the families of two alleged victims .
