The wind speculation that is looming in Sardinia, destined to sacrifice those fundamental elements for development, such as the environment, landscape and historical and cultural identity, is only one of the most controversial aspects of the so-called "ecological transition". The other, no less worrying and completely underestimated, is that of the real sustainability of some energy sources defined as "green".
Are they really? Doubts arise when reading a recent report by Anev, the National Wind Energy Association, which brings together over 100 companies operating in the wind sector.
The study highlights the critical issues related to the disposal of wind farms at the end of their life cycle , in particular of blades that have dimensional and construction characteristics that imply, at present, considerable difficulties in recycling the materials that compose them. There will be 30-40 thousand tons of wind farms to be disposed of in Italy in the next decade and they would be part of the first generation of wind farms installed towards the end of the 1970s.
