Searches have been underway since last night after a girl disappeared during the journey of a ferry from Genoa to Palermo . The 20-year-old, who was with her 15-year-old brother, seems to have vanished into thin air.

The alarm went off in the night, during the crossing. The brother noticed the absence of his sister, having left the cabin, and after an hour - not seeing her return - he warned the crew who immediately started looking for the girl, without success.

Upon arrival at the Sicilian port, the molecular dogs and the fire brigade also went up together with the maritime border police to inspect the ferry and cars and vehicles that disembarked were checked.

The 20-year-old may have hidden , it is not clear why, or may have fallen - accidentally or voluntarily - into the sea during the journey.
