The Minister of Defense , Guido Crosetto , was discharged early this afternoon from the San Carlo di Nancy hospital in Rome where he was hospitalized for an episode of pericarditis .

Crosetto showed up on the evening of Monday 12 February at the emergency room of San Carlo di Nancy, on the Via Aurelia, not far from the Vatican, complaining of intense chest pain . He had already had some heart problems in the past, with a hospitalization in 2013. He was therefore taken care of by the hospital's Heart Center, a specialized structure for cardiovascular checks and interventions. The coronary angiography he underwent highlighted suspected pericarditis, which was then confirmed by subsequent tests.

" I would like to thank all Italians for the countless messages of solidarity received in recent days " said today the minister whose health conditions are now defined as "good".

Even in hospital, during his hospitalization, Crosetto continued to carry out his duties, working on the most important dossiers and remaining in contact with the Chief of Defense Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, and with his Cabinet.

"The closeness that many citizens have shown me - the minister's words - is the best incentive to continue working with determination and commitment at the service of the country, for the defense and security of Italy".
