"I am convinced that moving from an obligation to wear a mask indoors to a recommendation may be the right choice, perhaps keeping them in some places such as means of transport. But today I believe there are the conditions to proceed with removing the obligation to wear masks at the closed".

These are the words of the Undersecretary of Health Andrea Costa to Rainews24 referring to the deadline of next May 1st.

"The decree in force already removes the obligation of indoor masks for everyone. It is now a question of evaluating whether to keep them in some particular contexts, where there is a greater concentration of people", added Costa.

Even Franco Locatelli, president of the Superior Health Council (CSS), had recalled yesterday how it could be appropriate, against Covid-19 , to keep the masks "in public transport, especially on long-distance trains and for air travel". And then in the offices "although, with the warm season, there is the possibility of opening the windows, at least until the great heat arrives", and opening the windows is a "protective factor" against the circulation of the coronavirus .

In recent days, the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, had also spoken of the importance of masks in preventing the virus in some contexts.

"Then - he explained - we will have to evaluate the evolution of the virus and get ready for the autumn: what we have learned in the last two years is that the autumn and winter phases are the most difficult phases. Being ready at that moment will mean first. of everything to protect the most fragile ".
