Francesco Pastore «had wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father Matteo» , confides a colleague and friend of his father, «for this reason, after graduating as a surveyor in 2020, he left Manfredonia to join the army, then moved to Florence where he obtained a degree in Science legal studies and finished the Non-Commissioned Officers School with the rank of Marshal. Campaign was his first assignment."

He leaves behind his mother, father and teacher sister. « He was very close to his family and often returned to Manfredoni, a two and a half hour drive away - says those who knew him -. He had the dream of obtaining a master's degree in law to complete his studies based on that innate sense of justice that he had cultivated since he was a child."

Over 300 kilometers away from Manfredonia, in Montesano Salentino, on the other side of Puglia, another family is overcome by pain. That of Francesco Ferraro. Father retired, mother a nurse at the Tricase hospital and a brother Alessandro, a carabiniere like him in Calabria, in Crotone, as confirmed by the deputy mayor Alessandro Verardo.

«I had known Francesco for years. He was a true friend. A generous, good, reliable boy. A guy you could rely on. He has always dedicated himself to social work. When he returned to Montesano, almost every two weeks, he helped the Administration in organizing any event or activity related to social issues or civil protection . We did so many things together. He was a special boy."
