Chiara Petrolini, under house arrest for killing and burying her two newborn children in the garden in Traversetolo (Parma), was allegedly the victim of sexual violence by a friend.

The abuse would have occurred a few months before Petrolini became pregnant by her boyfriend, the first pregnancy ended with the birth alone in May 2023 and the murder of the newborn. The incident was never reported, a friend of Chiara's would have spoken about it when questioned by investigators.

The friend who allegedly raped her has apparently been tracked down by investigators, but at the moment the incident has nothing to do with that of the two dead children.

The 22-year-old, accused of premeditated murder, suppression and concealment of a corpse, availed herself of the right to remain silent during the preliminary hearing last Thursday. The Prosecutor's Office is currently working to understand whether there were any accomplices. At the moment, according to what has been disclosed by investigators, the girl acted alone, hiding her pregnancy from everyone, giving birth alone and hiding the newborns' bodies in the garden of her home. She claims that both children were stillborn, a circumstance denied at least for the second child born, the first to be found by investigators. The autopsy has in fact shown that the baby breathed after birth. Chiara's Internet searches also highlight her desire to hide her pregnancy from everyone and kill the children.
