The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation today with the Holy Father on the next steps to be taken to build a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. This was reported in a note from Palazzo Chigi.
"The meeting follows yesterday's phone call with President Trump and other European leaders, during which the Italian Prime Minister was asked to verify the Holy See's willingness to host the negotiations ," the note explains.
«Finding confirmation in the Holy Father of the willingness to host the next talks between the parties in the Vatican , the Prime Minister expressed profound gratitude for the openness of Pope Leo XIV and for his unceasing commitment to peace».
