A technical fault on the Freccia 9422 Naples-Venice, which recently departed from Rome, put the approximately 500 passengers on board to the test : between Settebagni and Capena, on the outskirts of the capital, the convoy suddenly stopped, with the air conditioning off and unbearably stuffy.

Initially the passengers hoped for a temporary blockage, then, little by little, they turned to the restaurant car for water but the supplies, understandably, gradually ran out . The heat these days is suffocating, the train was cut off and therefore the air conditioning was turned off: "Hell", say the passengers.

The delay that accumulated was almost 4 hours and around 4.30 pm the passengers were moved to another train. «We are not aware of any illnesses among passengers - explains the Italian Railway Network (RFI) - the cost of the ticket will obviously be refunded. Everything that was on the restaurant car was distributed to the passengers and assistance kits were also given upon arrival."

On board, among others, there were also children, elderly people and a pregnant woman. And also the former minister and member of the Democratic Party Dario Franceschini, who told Repubblica: « I don't accuse anyone. For me it was a bad experience, for others it was dramatic . I hope that what happened today helps to improve interventions in emergency cases."

The fault caused some cancellations and obviously delays to other trains, generally contained to between 60 and 90 minutes. The FR 9668 Napoli Centrale train at 6.30pm arriving in Milan Centrale at 11.05pm stopped at Roma Tiburtina instead of Roma Termini. Traffic on the line resumed starting from 5.30 pm.
