Attempted extortion, damage, detention and carrying a pistol, all aggravated by the mafia method: these are the charges that the three subjects arrested by the Foggia State Police will have to answer as part of an investigation against the extortion racket.

The investigations of the Flying Squad, carried out through the extrapolation and analysis of the data acquired by the technological devices installed, made it possible to collect serious evidence of guilt against the suspects, believed to be close to mafia crime, who would have advanced, in the month of January, an extortion claim equal to 2,500 euros against a small local entrepreneur, alluding to the fact that the request for money had been made on behalf of the "Moretti - Lanza - Pellegrino" battery.

On February 16, following the non-payment of the sum of money by the entrepreneur, the three would then have fired several shots towards the box belonging to the latter's home. This circumstance was found by the police inspection, during which three 7.65 caliber ogives and two cartridge cases were found.

The searches carried out by the Flying Squad then made it possible to find two unexploded cartridges, of the same caliber as those used to carry out the intimidating act, inside a car attributable to one of the suspects and fictitiously registered to third parties.

One of the recipients of the detention order issued by the Bari DDA is a leading member of local organized crime, belonging to the "Moretti - Lanza - Pellegrino" mafia battery. In particular, as part of the Decima Action bis operation, he was the recipient of a precautionary measure as he was accused of having collected the proceeds of the extortion to the detriment of street traders in the city market of Foggia on behalf of the mafia battery to which he belongs.

The investigation highlighted the connections, also based on family ties, of the other two subjects with the same mafia battery.

The judge for the preliminary investigations of Foggia has validated the stops against all three suspects.
