"Francesco, I spoke to our daughter twice this evening, and she told me she's been home alone for over two hours because you're out for dinner. Are you crazy, leaving a six-year-old girl alone at home?"

This is the message that Ilary Blasi allegedly sent to her ex-husband Francesco Totti at 11.19pm on 26 May 2023 , now attached to the documentation in the proceedings in which the former Roma footballer is being investigated on charges of child abandonment.

"This message shows that Ilary Blasi tried every means to find out how her daughter was doing and ultimately called the police for it," said Fabio Lattanzi, Totti's ex-wife's lawyer. Meanwhile, the Rome investigating judge has reserved his decision on the prosecutor's request to dismiss the case.

Totti's current partner, Noemi Bocchi, is also charged with the same crime : her two minor children were also present at the house that evening. Prosecutors have also investigated the babysitter, who is accused of falsely claiming to have been present at the house to provide an alibi for the couple.

According to the complaint filed by the television host, who reported Totti, the youngest daughter was supposed to spend the evening with her father, who, however, left the house. In their request for the case to be dismissed, the Piazzale Clodio magistrates state that there was never any real danger to the minors. The girl had a phone with which she could call her mother, she was with older children, and the babysitter—though not present—was "presumably" available to come up immediately because she lives in the same building.

For Totti's defense attorney, Gianluca Tognozzi, "the prosecutor's request to dismiss the case is precisely justified based on the facts established. However, it seems to me that the whole thing is instrumental to the civil litigation." He is referring to the divorce proceedings, which are expected to conclude on March 21st.
