The bear M91 was killed during the night . The Forestry Corps agents executed the decree signed by the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento Maurizio Fugatti (Lega) .

The operation was conducted within the territory of the municipality of Sporminore and is part of the provisions of provincial law 9/2018 for the purpose of " ensuring the protection of public safety and security ".

The removal, explains the Province, was made necessary based on the forecasts of the Pacobace (Interregional Plan for the Conservation of the Brown Bear in the Central-Eastern Alps): in fact , in spring M91 had followed a person for a long time and, during the summer and autumn, had repeatedly entered inhabited centers or in the immediate vicinity of homes .

The specimen had been classified as dangerous under the aforementioned Plan (up to level 16 out of 18). The decision was therefore taken to avoid "the possibility of an event of even greater severity than those already recorded" .
