Raffaele Mascia, 21 years old, is originally from Sardinia and was arrested for the murder in Piazzale Gambara in Milan by investigators from the Flying Squad.

A crime that took place right within the walls of the Milanese bakery owned by his father Matteo , 71 years old, who has lived in Milan for a long time but was born in the province of Oristano .

The crime was based on a banal exchange of words between Raffaele and two patrons of the place, which became increasingly animated. Then Raffaele headed to the back room, a mezzanine that the young man often used to sleep, and from which he emerged with a gun in his hand. Then several shots, six in total in rapid succession : four hit the 49-year-old Ukrainian Ivan Disar between the abdomen and side, killing him ; the other two wounded his twenty-six-year-old compatriot Pavlo Kioresko , now out of danger after undergoing surgery at San Carlo.

Raffaele fled into the street, with the gun hidden in his belt, and contacted his most trusted friends, also confiding his intention to turn himself in. However, he was also nailed by the images from some video surveillance cameras and the testimony of a Moldovan woman, a friend of the two victims. And it was precisely on the basis of this information that on Monday the Homicide specialists began monitoring the area between the Porta Genova police station and the San Vittore prison , until they managed to intercept him at 8 pm right near the police station.

At that point, the twenty-one year old was taken to the police station : there he was notified of the arrest warrant already signed by the public prosecutor Carlo Enea Parodi , in which the murder and attempted murder aggravated by futile motives and the illegal possession of the weapon are contested.

At the moment Mascia, transferred to prison in San Vittore, has not yet been questioned , but informally has not denied his responsibilities . The twenty-one year old would have made it clear that he had reacted to a provocation, to those words pronounced by the two customers after a few beers and that would have touched him to the quick.

The weapon, the P38 with which Mascia shot in the shop, has not yet been found. During the interrogation the man could provide useful elements to have it found, in addition to clarifying the motive.

The boy has a very complicated past behind him : he has two previous convictions for drug dealing and one for resisting arrest during an escape from a community . Also family problems, which led him to be entrusted to a community protected by the Juvenile Court. A "street life" that he, passionate about boxing and MMA, had by now internalized as the only possible one , to cope with which he would have, according to him, in addition to the P38 also detained an electric stun gun and a telescopic truncheon, found in the room above the oven of which he had the keys and where he lived, also because his father was his only point of reference.
