The woman overwhelmed this morning by the collapse of a wall in Calenzano (Florence) died.

She was a 49-year-old resident in the area, walking along the street when she was hit by the sudden collapse of a portion about two and a half meters high and 60 meters long.

Recovered from the rubble, she was taken to the emergency room, but did not make it.

The wall delimits the park of a long-uninhabited villa. According to reports, the building was recently bought by a US doctor. However, the new owner had not yet started the renovation of the building.

The causes of the failure are being investigated by the fire brigade.

The authorities are contacting the owner in the US to order him to proceed with the safety of the portion of the wall that remained standing. The road where the collapse occurred since this morning is closed to traffic, including pedestrians.
