Maxi-operation of the police against the 'Ndrangheta in Rome and its province and also in Calabria .

The blitz led to dozens of arrests: 43 are the precautionary measures signed by the investigating judge of Rome at the request of the Roman DDA .

Some are accused of being part of a local 'Ndrangheta, rooted in the capital and aimed at acquiring the management and control of economic activities in various sectors , fish, bakery, pastry, the withdrawal of skins and exhausted oils.

As part of an investigation related to the operation conducted in the capital, the mayor of Cosoleto , Municipality of Reggino, Antonino Gioffré was arrested .

His name, according to investigators, appears in the list of 34 subjects reached by a custody order issued by the investigating judge at the request of the Dda Reggio against the Alvaro-Penna clan of Sinopoli. The investigation is linked to that of the Rome DDA.

In the Calabrian strand of the investigation, 29 people ended up in prison and 5 under house arrest. Gioffré is accused of electoral exchange between the political and mafia, as according to the accusation he would have favored the recruitment of another subject under investigation.
