A 28-year-old worker died this morning in Milan, crushed by the load of a crane . The accident occurred on a construction site in via Parravicini, Central Station area, around 9am.

Rescue efforts for the young worker were useless, the firefighters intervened to recover the body.

The worker, of Egyptian origin, was crushed while he was under the load on the tenth floor of a structure under construction , having fallen from the crane after a failure. Ats personnel are on site to reconstruct the dynamics.

According to what the firefighters report, the man was working with some colleagues and during the movement of the mobile crane a formwork (prefabricated casing used to contain the reinforced concrete castings) came loose, overwhelming him .

«Yet another tragedy at work, we continue to make safety warnings but objectively not enough is being done», commented the mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala . «The protocols are fine, everything is fine but there is more to do on the issue of safety - he added -. I remember what we did at Expo which was not just a protocol but continuous supervision of the works."
