17-month-old boy dies crushed by a block of plasterboard panels
His mother was at home with him, who raised the alarm: help was useless
Dramatic domestic accident in a house in Montemurlo (Prato), where a 17-month-old child died after being crushed by some plasterboard panels that had been placed in a room of the house.
The episode took place last night, the alarm was raised by the child's mother, crushed by a block of 10 plasterboard panels. The 118 operators intervened on the spot, who after first aid took the child to the Santo Stefano di Prato hospital where a cardiac massage was performed and an ongoing cerebral hemorrhage was found.
The rush to the Meyer in Florence was useless, the death of the child was confirmed there. Carabinieri and firefighters also intervened on the spot, while the prosecutor on duty ordered the autopsy.
The mayor of the Tuscan municipality Simone Calamai also intervened on the drama: «It is a tragedy that deeply touches the entire Montemurlese community. An absurd death that leaves dismay. On behalf of the Municipality of Montemurlo and of our entire community, I express my closeness to the family of the little one and I express my deepest condolences," he said.
