There is Cristiano Ronaldo on the path of the blues towards the World Cup. And away. Roberto Mancini's team is in pool C together with Portugal, which they could face in a possible single match for access to the Qatar World Cup.
Before facing CR7 and his teammates (the most formidable of the possible opponents, who must in any case defeat Turkey in the semifinals) the Azzurri will have to overcome the least popular of the 12 teams competing in these play-offs, North Macedonia, in the match scheduled for the 24th. “For us it is very difficult: Macedonia are strong and then we would go to play in the final against Turkey or Portugal. It will be tough, they are strong ”, coach Roberto Mancini's hot comment.
The 12 teams are divided into three groups of 4, with two seeds per group: semi-final and dry final, only one per group will go to Qatar.
In pool A the semi-finals are Scotland-Ukraine and Wales-Austria.
In pool B Russia-Poland and Sweden-Czech Republic.
We are in pool C: Italy-North Macedonia and Portugal-Turkey.
