The Ministry of Economy has chosen the consortium formed by the American fund Certares, with Air France-KLM and Delta for the sale of Ita Airways .

This was announced by the Treasury itself, explaining that with the consortium, whose offer was deemed "more in line with the objectives set", "an exclusive negotiation" will be started today.

Therefore, the other consortium in the race, the one formed by Msc and Lufthansa , is excluded.

"At the conclusion of the exclusive negotiation - adds the Mef - binding agreements will be signed only in the presence of content that is fully satisfactory for the public shareholder".

From what has been learned, MSC and Lufthansa would have offered 850 million euros for 80% of Ita, with 60% to MSC, 20% to the Germans and 20% to the Mef.

Certares, on the other hand, would offer 650 million for a share just under 60%, leaving just over 40% in the hands of the Treasury , which would be entitled to two out of five seats in a future board. The US fund would then aim to give Fiumicino a central role, as the third hub in continental Europe, together with Amsterdam and Paris, strengthening both the North American routes and those for Latin America and Africa.
