Paolo Sorrentino's film “It was the hand of God” is among the nominees for the Golden Globe as best foreign film. The president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Helen Hoehne announced in Los Angeles.

The 79th edition of the Golden Globes will be held on January 9, 2022. Sorrentino's film likes: "It makes its slow march and let's see what happens, we live for the day", said the director in November, at the premiere of the film that Italy has nominated for the Oscars and has already won the Grand Jury Prize in Venice.

"This film had been in my mind for many years and only now have I found the courage to do it: for unfathomable reasons the right time had come, I had turned 50, I had a great desire to return to shoot in Naples, I felt the need for a set in the summer almost a possibility of recreation after a hard period for everyone ”, the words of Sorrentino.

Sorrentino shot in the city of his adolescence, even in his palace. The protagonist Fabietto (Filippo Scotti) is his alter ego in a crazy 80s Naples for Maradona. In the film the director, also a screenwriter and producer, relives his personal tragedy, the accidental and premature loss of his parents, and finds his way also thanks to the meeting with the director Antonio Capuano, thanks to whom he understands that his future is the cinema.
