Food goods, recreational, cultural and personal care services weigh on the acceleration, passing from + 4.4% to + 5%, as well as transport-related services (from + 6.0% to + 7.2%).

"The acceleration in food prices, processed and unprocessed, pushes the growth of those of the so-called shopping cart " even higher to + 8.3%, according to preliminary statistics. Also in this case it is the highest increase since January 1986 , when it recorded + 8.6%, in May the increase was 6.7% for the prices of food, household and personal care that make up the trolley.

Consumer prices net of energy and fresh food which represent the core component mark + 3.8% (it was + 3.2% in May) and those net of energy goods alone + 4.2% (from + 3.6%).

"On an annual basis - observes Istat - both the prices of goods (from + 9.7% to + 11.4%) and those of services (from + 3.1% to + 3.4%) accelerate. therefore, the negative inflation differential between the latter and the prices of goods is wide (from -6.6 in May to -8.0 percentage points) ".
