Almost two thousand confirmed subscribers, enthusiasm for a first historical edition and concern (as always happens) for weather forecasts. The Ironman 70.3 Sardegna Italy will write a new page on Sunday, indeed it will open a new chapter in the long history of triathlon on the island. He will do it in Santa Margherita di Pula, at Forte Village which in recent years has shown that it fully believes in the potential of the swim-pedal-run sport that has seen Sardinia for many years a privileged stage for international events (from Xterra to Challenge, up to the World Cup).

The distance is the "half" one (half of the classic Ironman), that is 1900 meters of swimming, 90 km of cycling (but it is important to remember that you cannot take the trail of your rivals, so it is like a time trial) and the final half marathon. , of 21 km. Compared to past editions of the Pulese race, what changes is the number of participants (never so many in a triathlon on the island) and their origin, divided into over 80 countries on five continents. They are all age-groups (agonists yes, but amateurs), given that in this first edition there are no Pro's, engaged in Cascais.

But the impact represented by the Ironman brand still makes the race historic. "A dream that comes true, we would like to make it the most important event on the circuit", admitted the CEO. of Forte Village, Lorenzo Giannuzzi, during the presentation that involved the regional councilor for tourism Gianni Chessa, the mayor of Pula Carla Madau, the representative of Ironman Europe, Ferran Jimenez, and the race director, Andrea Mentasti, in addition to journalist-triathlete Dario Nardone, the king of triathlon speakers in Italy.
