Alghero confirmed its role as an international stage for endurance sports with the official presentation of the IronMan 70.3, which took place at the Teatro Civico.

One of the most prestigious events in the world of triathlon, it is set to attract approximately 3,000 athletes from 91 countries and an estimated total of over 12,000 attendees, including supporters and staff.

Taking the stage were Mayor Raimondo Cacciotto, Tourism Councilor Ornella Piras, and Sports Councilor Enrico Daga, along with representatives from the institutional and sports world. The audience also included many young people, including students from the city's high schools, involved in an event that also promotes the values of sport. Since its first edition, the IronMan has attracted significant numbers, confirming the event's international and inclusive nature. Beyond its competitive aspect, it represents an extraordinary showcase for the region, capable of generating significant benefits in terms of tourism promotion, global visibility, and economic development.

The race is scheduled for June 7th and features a challenging and spectacular course: a 1.9-kilometer swim, a 90-kilometer bike ride, and a 21.1-kilometer run. The route will pass through some of the most picturesque spots on the coast, between Fertilia and Porto Conte. To ensure the competition is held safely, some traffic measures will be necessary. Some roads will likely be closed to traffic, potentially causing disruption to residents, although the municipal administration is working to identify solutions compatible with the needs of the event and the local community.
