Coldiretti Nuoro Ogliastra draws attention to the invasion of grasshoppers and to the fact that, now approaching the month of October, "the prevention plan ready since the end of July is still at a standstill".

Since the spring of 2019, the association recalls, locusts have appeared in massive numbers in the Tirso valley and in three years the territory concerned has tripled as well as the number of companies involved has multiplied.

The grasshoppers "despite being small insects are very voracious and in such high numbers they are razing the territory to the ground causing considerable losses to farms: weeds, vegetables, pastures, they eat everything leaving the animals without food and supplies for autumn and winter. many complaints - says the president of Coldiretti Nuoro Ogliastra Leonardo Salis - finally this year a prevention plan has been drawn up in the Region but that if it continues to lie in some desk in Cagliari it will be of little use. It is essential to put it into practice because it would be absurd it is incomprehensible to relive a spring like that of the last three years ".

"It is necessary - adds director Alessandro Serra - to immediately implement the prevention plan, grasshoppers must be fought from now on, intervening when they have invaded the fields, as we know, is impossible and would force us to suffer them for another year with all the consequences that we know for the farms that are still waiting for relief for the losses suffered ".
