Nowadays more and more people are making the choice to install a photovoltaic system on their home roof.

Switching to photovoltaics is convenient from many points of view. In fact, a solar system gives those who install it the possibility of being independent from the national electricity grid and at the same time safeguarding the health of the planet.

For this reason, given the constant growth of the renewable energy sector in Italy, our editorial staff decided to interview a nationally-level entrepreneur from Cagliari in the photovoltaic sector: Luca Figarini.

Photodynamic as avant-garde of photovoltaics.

Cagliari, February 3, 2023.

“Until a few years ago, I sold telephone sim cards in order to earn something. I must say that it makes me strange to be interviewed as if I were an enlightened entrepreneur!” he immediately confesses to us jokingly Luca Figarini, founder and CEO of Fotodinamico.

Surely you have created something unique with Photodynamic, something that is very different from normal photovoltaic panels, right?

“Well yes indeed, let's say that Fotodinamico was born from the need for a new generation photovoltaic.

The normal silicon solar panels that have been on the market for years have a major limitation… and that is that they produce energy only when the sun is shining!

What does this mean? That a normal solar panel in the winter seasons yields much less than in the summer period.

But that's not all, because even when the sun rises or sets, it does not directly illuminate the panel and therefore it does not produce energy.

One of the unique elements of Fotodinamico is therefore its ability to produce energy even when the sunlight is only diffused or even when the sky is overcast.”

So Fotodinamico produces more than a normal solar panel?

"Exact. Let's say that, thanks to the innovative technology and the materials used, our systems have an efficiency up to 15% higher than other generation systems.

For users, this translates into greater production, a faster return on investment and the possibility of orienting the panels anywhere and not just towards the SOUTH as with traditional panels…

As well as having greater durability.”

What do you mean by durability?

“I mean that our panels are less affected by wear and tear than normal silicon photovoltaics.

For example… in summer, when the standard operating limit temperature is exceeded, all solar panels lose conversion efficiency from electrical radiative energy. This loss is minimized in our systems, made up of materials with a minimum temperature coefficient which makes them more performing than all other types of panels.

Our panels are regularly used in desert areas precisely because of their ability to withstand very high and abnormal temperatures.”

It is evident that Photodynamic systems have a series of important advantages… but what does the customer have to give up in order to obtain them? What are the “cons” of Fotodinamico?

“Practically none.

Simply the material, design and technology used are better.

Let's say that the only "against" if we want to call it that is that buying our Photodynamic panels certainly requires a greater investment than traditional systems.

In the face of a greater investment, however, the customer obtains various advantages such as:

  • Save on bills;
  • Pollute less;
  • Have a plant with an attractive design;
  • A 10-year product and 25-year production guarantee;
  • Recover the investment faster;
  • The guarantee that the entire system is made in Europe.

Ah here! I forgot… One con of our plants is the fact that they cannot be trampled on.

This is because, as I said, they are made with a different material, called thin film, which is more efficient and takes up less space, but which cannot be trampled on.

Of course, there aren't many customers who need to be able to step on their solar panels on the roof.”

The future of photovoltaics according to Luca Figarini.

Continuing our interview, we asked Luca for some general information regarding the renewable energy sector, analyzing his point of view as an entrepreneur in the sector.

How do you expect photovoltaics to evolve in the near future?

“The solar energy sector is certainly growing, if I'm not mistaken only in 2022 the demand for solar panels grew by about 12%.

Fotodinamico, our brand, bears witness to this: we have just closed the year with very strong growth… so much so that we are not even able to satisfy all the installation requests we have received.”

For what reason do you think? What is different about solar energy?

“Probably what is making this industry grow so rapidly is the fact that solar energy is accessible to everyone.

Hydroelectric power needs watercourses and they aren't everywhere, wind power needs wind and this too isn't everywhere... sunlight, on the other hand, is within everyone's reach, especially if, as in the case of Photodynamic, it is not you need direct light but diffused light is enough.”

Furthermore, anyone can install solar panels… as opposed to other energy sources.

“Exactly, exactly like that.

The uniqueness of photovoltaics is that ANYONE can produce energy… both individuals and companies.

So potentially all of us could take a small step towards energy independence, saving on bills and producing cleaner energy.

We at Fotodinamico aim for this, bringing a unique product to the market and always trying to innovate.”

Conclusions

At the end of the interview, Luca Figarini invited all the editorial staff to deepen the topic by visiting the Fotodinamico website ( fotodinamico.it ) or by sending an email to info@fotodinamico.it
