In Portoscuso a deposit of lithium-cobalt batteries, anger of Solinas: "Unacceptable"
The governor against the project by the Ministry and Enel: «Sardinia is not an energy colony. We will oppose any arrogant and one-sided decision."Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
«We will not passively accept that the Ministry and Enel treat Sardinia as a national energy colony without there being adequate compensation for the territory and for the Sardinians . Shutting down the Grazia Deledda plant without certainties about the employment future of hundreds of workers and supplies for the large energy-intensive industries of Sulcis is unacceptable . Thinking of scattering Sardinia with huge lithium-cobalt accumulators whose duration does not exceed three years means pre-establishing a huge environmental problem of disposing of this highly polluting waste » .
This is the tough position taken by the governor Christian Solinas , commenting on the government's decision to transform the Enel power plant in Portoscuso into an electrochemical storage site for batteries of 122 megawatts.
A decision - now being examined by the regional Attorney's office for the evaluation of a possible appeal - which the President of the Region defines as " unacceptable, arrogant, unilateral and not in line with the needs of Sardinia , already mortified in its energy autonomy and condemned once again aimed at enduring new handicaps in addition to those suffered up to now".
«Our position on the energy issue as a whole is clear and based on the real needs of Sardinia», continues Solinas, recalling the recent ordinance of the Council of State which reforms the sentence of the Tar of 26 last September and suspends the effects of the Energy Decree of Draghi government, setting the hearing for the discussion of the appeal on the merits for 23 February 2023.
«The Region - adds the governor - is asking to arrive at a definitive and structural solution to the energy problem such as to be able to guarantee an adequate future for the territory and the production system . On these bases, the Region's request was accepted just a few days ago and we will continue to operate along this line, defending our energy independence and asserting the reasons of Sardinia and the Sardinians, underestimated, ignored and neglected even today, in terms of Ministry's decision on the Enel project at the Portoscuso plant site».
«We do not intend to barter - concludes Solinas - the existing with pejorative solutions rained down from above , which in a complicated and delicate moment like the one we are experiencing deviate so clearly from the needs of our Island and, eventually, of families and businesses. We cannot accept agreements and provisions that disregard the inalienable rights of the Sardinians».
