A successful premiere yesterday, with Notre Dame de Paris at the Arena Teatrale Molo Brin in Olbia receiving a standing ovation. The fifteenth city on the tour marking the 25th anniversary of the world's most famous pop opera, Olbia last night hosted the first of four performances that run through Saturday.
Written by Luc Plamondon and Riccardo Cocciante, with an Italian libretto by Pasquale Panella, this masterpiece, loosely based on Victor Hugo's novel, extols the torment of love in the shadow of a Gothic French cathedral, and enchanted over three thousand spectators.
On the sea-view stage, two hours of magic unfolded, with an impressive set and twenty-five artists, including dancers, acrobats, and actors, including some of the original cast, including Giò Di Tonno as Quasimodo. Yesterday, outside the show, he celebrated his birthday with the Olbia audience, who enthusiastically cheered him on.
