Bolzano is the province where the heating systems are kept on the most in Italy, while Sardinia, on the other hand, is the region that needs them the least.

These are the data from the latest Eurostat 2023 report on European regions. The report takes into account heating day days (HDD) and cooling degree days (CDD) , weather-based technical indices designed to describe buildings' energy needs for heating or cooling. And with winter upon us, the regions are dealing with it.

So if the province of Bolzano has a requirement of 3960 HDDs, Sardinia stops at 970.

In the ranking on the podium of those who have to heat the most there are also the Valle d'Aosta (3868 HDD) and the Province of Trento (3114).

Among those who heat less, in addition to Sardinia, Sicily (1079) and Calabria (1131). The other regions: Liguria (1554), Piedmont (2204), Lombardy (2312), Veneto (2203), Friuli Venezia Giulia (2388), Emilia-Romagna (1904), Tuscany (1568), Marche (1738), Umbria ( 1797), Lazio (1381), Abruzzo (1685), Molise (1578), Campania (1191), Puglia (1284), Basilicata (1445).
