The world of cinema is mourning the death of Burt Young, an Italian-American actor known, among other things, for playing the role of Paulie Pennino, Rocky Balboa's manager, in the boxing saga starring Sylvester Stallone.
Young – born Geraldo "Jerry" Tommaso DeLouise – was 83 years old and died in Los Angeles.
Her daughter Anne broke the news to the New York Times.
Burt Young, born in 1940, began his career in cinema in the Seventies, when he was thirty, and chose his stage name paying homage to his heroes, Burt Lancaster and Neil Young.
In addition to the role of Paulie, which also earned him an Oscar nomination, he starred in many other films (such as "Once Upon a Time in America") and acted in successful TV series, such as "Mash", "Miami Vice" and “Law and Order.”
He also shot with some Italian directors, such as Pupi Avati and Alessandro D'Alatri.
In addition to being an actor, he was also an artist: his works have been exhibited in some of the most prestigious museums in the world.
«You were an incredible man and artist, I and the world will miss you dearly. Rip », the condolence message posted by Stallone on Instagram to remember his colleague and friend.
