Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said she was open to a one-on-one meeting with the leaders of the Democratic Party and the Five Star Movement, Elly Schlein and Giuseppe Conte, at Atreju, the Brothers of Italy party scheduled in Rome from December 6 to 14.

"I read that Elly Schlein has finally accepted Fratelli d'Italia's invitation to participate in Atreju, but only if she were to meet me directly," Meloni wrote on social media. "Atreju has always been a place open to dialogue, even with those who disagree. I am therefore ready to engage with the opposition. But I believe Giuseppe Conte should also participate in the discussion. For two reasons: the first is that Giuseppe Conte, unlike Elly Schlein, has also attended Atreju in past years without imposing any restrictions. He did so even as prime minister."

The second, she adds, "is that it's not up to me to decide who should be the opposition leader, when the opposing camp hasn't yet chosen one. For my part, therefore, I'm open to a one-on-one discussion with both," Meloni reiterates.
