It's official: Dario Giagoni is no longer the regional coordinator of the League.
The Gallurese deputy resigned this morning , after rumors about his replacement at the helm of the party in Sardinia had been circulating for days. Now the national leader Matteo Salvini could entrust the task to Michele Pais, current president of the regional council.
«This painful choice is conditioned by the continuous overlapping of increasingly demanding and absorbing institutional tasks», explains Giagoni, «this period as coordinator was exciting and formative. I don't deny that there have been dark moments, of discouragement and sometimes of anger, but even negative experiences serve to grow".
For years, he recalls, "I have been dedicating time, energy and commitment to the growth of the party in the area, now the time has come for me to devote body and soul to another important role for which I was elected and which, out of respect for the Sardinians who have placed their trust in me, must be carried out at 360 degrees, with the awareness that holding too many positions at the same time risks not carrying out any of them at their best». In any case, " my commitment to our Island will continue with the same passion and tenacity ".
Then a series of suggestions to those who will come after him: «To whoever succeeds me, I hope to keep up the honor of the party so that the true values of the League are carried forward in full respect of all the Sardinians who have placed their trust in us in the February 2019 and in subsequent electoral rounds". The work done "must be carried out without parochialism but with the enhancement of the personalities we have within us , including those of the many local administrators who have approached the League during my mandate".
Because, concludes the parliamentarian, « "Sardinia first" has never been an electoral slogan but a profound conviction that has allowed me to put personalities and personal interests in the background in favor of the collective good, an attitude that I hope can be found also in the one who will take my place".
