There will also be a robot on Saturday in Urzulei, for the 23rd edition of the Sardinian morra regional championship. It is called Gavina 2121 and will in effect be one of the participants in the competition.
A team of researchers from the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology, Philosophy of the University of Cagliari, of Biomedical Sciences of the University of Sassari, of the Multisensory laboratory of the Lawrence Technological University (USA) and of the cultural association "Sociu po su jocu de sa murra ", is ready to study the mysteries of the game with a project of scientific interest entitled" The game of morra between science and culture ", which compares artificial intelligence with human skills .
Some team representatives will be in Urzulei in the amphitheater in Piazza Funtana Becia. From the beginning to the end of the race they will carry out surveys and interviews to study the functioning of the human mind during the various phases of the game. Also present was the mayor Ennio Arba .
Gavina 2121 is a human -looking robot capable of challenging men and women to the game of morra : she is the daughter of Gavin 1.0, her predecessor born from a didactic experiment conducted in 2010 by a class of the Giua Higher Institute of Cagliari.
She inherits the game “brains” from Gavin but extends them with several new features that make her a perfect player: her artificial intelligence is able to study the opponent's game and build a personalized and effective strategy.
