Francesco Ginesu , the new commissioner of the “Mario Sironi” Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari, has officially taken office, having been appointed by decree directly from the Minister of University and Research, Senator Anna Maria Bernini.
A native of Sassari, an entrepreneur and former member of the Academy's Board of Directors, Ginesu has long been familiar with the institution on Via Duca degli Abruzzi. For two years, he served as an administrative expert for the Ministry, closely following the Academy's affairs. His familiarity with the institution is further enhanced by a personal friendship with former director Antonio Bisaccia, which helped solidify his familiarity with the Sassari academic community.
"It gives me great satisfaction to be able to offer my experience to the Mario Sironi Academy at such an important time," said Commissioner Francesco Ginesu. "I thank Minister Bernini for his trust and I take on this role with a sense of responsibility, aware of the Academy's importance to Sassari, and to Sardinia as a whole, with its regional reach, to the local area, and to the education of young people who choose the arts and cultural professions."
During the first few days of his mandate, the Commissioner has scheduled a series of meetings with department heads, the Student Council, and the administrative staff . The first Board of Directors meeting, chaired by the Commissioner, has also been convened for September 8th. Among the key items on the Board's agenda will be the unblocking of the budget, a crucial step in allowing the institution to plan its activities and address the initial needs of ordinary management.
Particular attention will be paid to the reorganization and subdivision of the Academy's spaces and to the new guidelines for teaching activities, in preparation for the start of the next academic year. This will be a departure from the previous teaching and administrative management, including by involving students and professors in key decisions. A strong emphasis will be placed on communications, to raise awareness of the institution and attract as many students as possible, bringing them closer to the institution.
