Francesca Barra is leaving early as host of "4 di Sera Weekend," the Rete 4 news program she hosts with Roberto Poletti. This isn't a permanent departure, but a break dictated by strictly personal reasons.
"I apologize, but I have to interrupt to make an announcement: it's my duty," the journalist began at the end of Sunday night's episode. "Tonight I'll be leaving my hosting duties with 4 di Sera Weekend early. This is my third summer hosting with my colleague and friend Roberto Poletti, but as you know, I'm going through a difficult time. My family needs me ."
The host then thanked Mediaset, the publisher, and CEO Pier Silvio Berlusconi for their support. "Thank you not only for choosing me, but also for giving me the opportunity to stop at the most opportune moment," she said, bidding farewell to the editorial staff, which she described as "a professional family."
"She had already mentioned this decision to me. I'm just telling Francesca that this is simply a goodbye. We'll see each other soon. It felt like a farewell, but it's just a goodbye," said Poletti, who will therefore continue to host alone for the time being.
The decision comes just weeks after a particularly painful time for the journalist. On June 16 , she announced on social media the passing of her father, Francesco Michele, a loss that has profoundly affected her recent weeks and may have influenced her decision to temporarily take time off to dedicate herself to her loved ones.
