«Sardinia attracts travelers with its luxurious Costa Smeralda, immaculate beaches and exclusive boutiques. You can explore coastal villages, enjoy fine cuisine and indulge in rich local experiences.”

This is how the US economics magazine Forbes, on its website, describes the Italian island, placing it in first place in the ranking of the 24 best destinations to travel to in 2024, according to a luxury travel consultant.

It is also the only Italian destination on the list.

«Who should go? - we read again - Beach lovers, food enthusiasts and Italophiles. History buffs can explore the ruins and food enthusiasts can enjoy seafood and the unique casu marzu cheese, which contains live insect larvae."

Then a series of tips on things not to be missed: «The breathtaking beaches of the Costa Smeralda such as Porto Cervo beach, the coastal villages and private yacht rental».

Again: «You can explore the Gulf of Orosei, visit Orgosolo for street art or venture into Gorroppu, one of the largest canyons in Europe», says Fatma Yuceler, travel consultant at OvationNetwork.

Sardinia's first place in this ranking comes after the top step of the podium assigned to the island by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler, the most authoritative monthly travel magazine published in the world.

«Experiential tourism - the comment of the regional councilor for Tourism Gianni Chessa - is one of the segments on which the Region is focusing with conviction, through some important initiatives, such as the "We walk in Sardinia" project which promotes paths, pilgrimage destinations and villages, and promotion during the most important national and international trade fairs. Slow and sustainable tourism – concludes Chessa – represents a new tourist proposal, very successful in recent years, which will contribute to integrating the traditional and consolidated seaside tourism».
