Football: doping, Keita Balde suspended until December
No positivity to illicit substances, but there would have been a procedural violation when he was at Cagliari
Former Cagliari center forward Keita Balde has been suspended until 5 December for violating doping control in Italy. This was announced by Spartak Moscow, his current club. This is a provision that could compromise his participation in the 2022 World Cup. The Russian club does not add details on the nature of the "violation", specifying that no illicit substance was detected in the sample taken from the player and tested that day.
According to Spartak, the 27-year-old will not be able to return to training until 22 days before the end of his ban, according to FIFA regulations.
Balde (formerly of Lazio and Monaco), played in Cagliari last season in Serie A before joining Spartak Moscow. The suspension of Keita Balde, winner of the Africa Cup with Senegal last February, seriously compromises his chances of participating in the World Cup in Qatar, from 20 November to 18 December.
