Sardinia lands on the Venice Lido for the 80th edition of the Venice International Film Festival , and it does so with four feature films and a short film, bringing as a dowry both Sardinian directors and producers, artists who have found a "home" in Sardinia, international co-productions and an increasingly global and sustainability-oriented gaze.

«Very different films - says Gianluca Aste, president of the Sardegna Film Commission Foundation - which reveal a rich heterogeneity of poetic sensibilities and experimental aesthetics, playing between co-productions with a global aspiration, eco-sustainable and ecological films and, last but not least, art house production within the Biennale College program».

It starts on September 1st with "The year of the egg" by Claudio Casale (Diero productions, an Olbia-based company that has been promoting young and short-format cinema for years with the Olbia Film Network together with the Sardinia Film Commission) which experiments the theme of the search for spirituality to deal with infertility in couples. It is a look at our society, "which appears increasingly complex and out of control - comments the director Casale - many choose the clarity offered by a micro-community, whether it is an online forum, a or a trend topic lasting a few days. And in a world that glorifies materialism, the echo of a spirituality at hand attracts more and more people."

The environment and the need to find a perfect balance between nature and technology are the basis of "L'avamposto" , scheduled for the Authors' Days from 3 September, a film made by the Sicilian director Edoardo Morabito , a Dugongo Films production with Rai Cinema. The protagonist is an eco-warrior who has created a model of utopian society in the heart of the Amazon. Sardinia as Amazon therefore for the creation of a very personal outpost of progress.

Also on 3 September, on the occasion of the Venetian Nights, there will be the opportunity to watch the film "Across" by the visual anthropologist Irene Dorighetti , produced by Start and Rai Cinema, together with the Sardinians of Terra De Punt. The film, straddling reality and fiction, has found Porto Pino as the ideal location and tells of a girl who grew up in the Italian Alps with a family linked to scout travel and culture, a real spiritual road movie that focuses on the between society and the environment.

Man's difficult relationship with an increasingly stepmother and unmanageable nature is the protagonist of "Tilipirche", a short film by Francesco Piras which will participate out of competition in the International Critics' Week. Produced by Bee to Bee, the short by the Sardinian director and cinematographer talks about a small village in the heart of Sardinia afflicted by a terrible invasion of grasshoppers that devour everything. The film followed the Sardinia Green Protocol and was shot in Noragugume during the locust invasion that hit central Sardinia last year.

At the end of the Festival and the Giornate degli Autori, Marco Amenta's “Anna” arrives, another Sicilian director now at home on the island. Also in this case there is a strong environmental value: Anna runs a farm and is ready to face and defeat all resistance and attacks to protect her land from speculation. The work is mainly shot in the locations of the municipality of Muravera.

Once again, the Sardinia Film Commission Foundation (FSFC) will bring its experience in the field of green writing, production and distribution to Venice : a path born from afar, which over the years has led to the creation of a certified Green Protocol. This is precisely the case of Anna, who, in addition to having a plot with a strong environmental value, follows the process for the green certification promoted together with Ecomuvi and was filmed according to the most modern standards of sustainability, with the presence on the set also of students of the green manager course.

There is also a rich network of institutional appointments including Documentaries, Film Commissions, Film Schools and dedicated to the audiovisual market and the attraction of foreign capital, with important meetings between the FSFC and international stakeholders.
