Michele Podda is still leading Meta Catania, champion of Italy in the Serie A of five-a-side football for the second consecutive season. The 2000-born full-back from Villaspeciosa, a great protagonist also in this futsal season, marked the triumph of the rossazzurri with a goal, who won 3-2 in game 2 against Napoli.

After the 0-2 last Saturday at PalaVesuvio, for Meta Catania last night was the first chance to close the account at home (had they lost there would have been game 3 tomorrow, again in front of their fans). In a packed arena Turmena unlocked the score in the 10th minute with a terrifying free kick that broke through the wall, then he himself doubled the score with a spectacular shot from afar . At the end of the first half, with video support, Napoli goalkeeper Bellobuono was sent off for touching the ball with his hand outside the area.

Podda, in the 4th minute of the second half, makes it 3-0 with a beautiful conclusion in what – all things considered – becomes the decisive goal . It seems done for Meta Catania, but Borruto and Vavà reduce the score to 3-2 and in the meantime Turmena himself is sent off for a second yellow card. The Sicilians have to suffer in the final stages, with the subsequent expulsions of Bocão and (for the guests) Guilhermão, with goalkeeper Siqueira who at the last second makes a miracle with a sensational save on a desperation shot by De Luca.

For Meta Catania, as well as for Podda, it is the second consecutive championship and confirmation at the absolute top of Italian five-a-side football . In the squad, under the orders of Juanra, there is also a player with a past in Sardinia: the Brazilian goalkeeper João Timm, protagonist of the rise to Serie A (and the season in the top championship, 2022-2023) of 360 GG Monastir.
