Anthony Robert McMillan is a name that will say nothing to many. Because for everyone it was Rubeus Hagrid, the half-giant with the thick beard of the Harry Potter saga , the character who, as his agent recalled, "brought joy to children and adults, causing a stream of fan letters every week for over 20 years".

Robbie Coltrane, this is his stage name, died at the age of 72 from causes that have not been disclosed.

Of British origin, he was the son of a doctor and a pianist and was only in his twenties when he devoted himself to acting taking part in many successful films such as the two James Bond films "GoldenEye" (1995) and "The world is not enough" (1999).
