Quincy Jones , one of the most successful music producers and composers of the twentieth century , has died at the age of 91.
Jones “ died peacefully at his home in Bel Air, surrounded by his children, siblings and immediate family ,” his agent told CNN.
Awarded 26 Grammy Awards out of 76 nominations and in 1991 also a rare Grammy Legends Award, he has also produced two albums in Italy. Among his most successful collaborations are those with Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson.
A celebrated jazz and pop musician, Jones was also a prolific multi-genre arranger, bandleader, record label executive, and civil rights advocate.
His long and varied list of credits includes composing the score for the Academy Award-winning film “In the Heat of the Night,” producing Michael Jackson’s box-office hit “Thriller,” and joining dozens of pop and rock stars in recording the 1985 charity single “We Are the World.”
