The world of cinema in mourning for the death of director Ivan Reitman. He was 75 and lived in California.
The death dates back to February 12, but the news was disclosed only today, by the three children, Jason, Catherine and Caroline, with a touching message, which reads: "Our family is saddened by the unexpected loss of a husband, father and grandfather who taught us to always seek magic in life ".
"We are comforted - they add - in the fact that his work as a director has brought laughter and happiness to countless people around the world".
Originally from Czechoslovakia, from which he emigrated in the post-war period together with his family to settle in Canada, Reitman has signed cult masterpieces such as "Animal House" as a producer and, in the role of director, films such as "Ghostbuster" and "The twins", two films symbol of the Eighties, working together with actors of the caliber of John and James Belushi, Bill Murray, Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In his long career he has also directed "My Super Ex-girlfriend", "Friends, lovers and ..." and "Draft Day".
His son Jason, director and screenwriter, followed in his footsteps, even winning a Golden Globe in 2010 for "Up in the Air," with George Clooney.
