In Borutta the celebrations and re-enactments of the " Bastida di Sorres " have begun, the historic battle of 1334 in which the Dorias tried to conquer the historic fortress of Sorres, which fell into the hands of the Aragonese.

This year in the reinterpretation of the battle over 200 figures, 6 groups of medieval re-enactment, falconers, jesters and equestrian centers, in three days (14, 15 and 16 October) full of appointments. With programs dedicated to families, enthusiasts, nature and food and wine lovers.

The event is now in its tenth edition and in addition to municipal funds it is financed with 50 thousand euros by the Sardinia Region.

The Bastida di Sorres, proposed by the municipal administration of Borutta, also includes new activities, such as ballooning and the Ottobrata, a delicious food and wine tour . The event will develop between museum visits and guided nature trails. While in the battlefield set up tents, period equipment, catapults, blacksmith's forge, field kitchen, medieval armor and weapons.

On Saturday and Sunday the battle, life and work scenes of the medieval period will be reproduced : from metalworking to the production of ceramics and fabrics. Enriched with artistic workshops: of the dyer and the alchemist. The jesters with cart, the archery and crossbow competition, the equestrian joust, medieval dances, equilibrists and falconers will color the hectares of garden surrounding the basilica dedicated to San Pietro di Sorres.

The medieval camp will host 6 re-enacting groups: the Memoria Milites, the knights of the Antica Locanda and Sala d'Arme, the Four Doors of Cagliari, the medieval archers of Sanluri, the Sagittari Vagantes and the Castellani de Gioiosa Guardia company of arms. by Iglesias . After the important dressing of the knights, these six groups will stage, on Saturday at 18 and Sunday at 12, the battle of 1334 between the Dorias and the Aragonese. Women and men will tell the facts reported in ancient texts, historical documents and legends. "This year will be a really great edition - comments the mayor of Borutta Silvano Arru -.
