European Union: agreement on photo-finish on gas. Draghi: "It went well"
An agreement was found on the energy dossier on the first day of work after 12 hours of tensionAn agreement reached the photofinish, after almost 12 hours of tensions , to find an agreement within the European Union and bring everyone together in front of the energy dossier and make a common front against the "Russian enemy".
"It went well" was Mario Draghi 's comment at the end of the first day of work, and the satisfaction concerns the contents of the document which provides for "the urgency of concrete decisions" to be taken on gas with a series of measures including the platform of common purchases and a new complementary benchmark to the Ttf.
The substance, in short, does not change compared to what the Commission proposed three days ago: aggregate platform for gas - voluntary but mandatory for a share of 15% of the total volume of storage in Europe - incentives for renewables up to a gas price cap in the formation of electricity, and the application of the Iberian model - advocated by France but not by Germany - which could pave the way for a new Sure on energy.
The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, sums it all up in one sentence: “It has been agreed to work on measures to contain energy prices for households and businesses” .
