After the victories on the first day of the European Athletics Championships, the Azzurri do not stop and look for new triumphs. The satisfactions were not long in coming.
Marcell Jacobs , chasing gold, qualified for the 100 meters final by winning the third semi-final with a time of 10"05 . Francesco Fortunato , a 29-year-old financier from Puglia from Andria, placed third, and is therefore a bronze medalist, in the 20 km race walk , the Swede Perseus Karlstrom took the top step of the podium ahead of the Spaniard Paul McGrath.
Simonelli , in the semi-final of the 110 hurdles, earned first place and classification in the final, obtained with a new Italian record (13.20). Silver medal instead for Mattia Furlani in the long jump, with a measurement of 8.38. Gold goes to the Olympic champion, the Greek Miltiades Tentoglu, with 8.65. Bronze goes to the Swiss Simon Ehammer (8.31).
Yesterday the first two gold medals arrived , with Antonella Palmisano who shone in the 20 km walk and with Nadia Battocletti in the 5 thousand metres. Not only first places but also silver medals, those of Valentina Trapletti and the 4x400 mixed relay.
