A growing progressive force . It is Europa Verde Sardegna that today in Sassari, in the setting of the Hotel Pegasus, celebrated its first congress putting, among its programmatic points, environment, energy transition, transport, infrastructure, housing policies, health, prison policies.
And it was especially young people and the future that were the focus of the discussion, in which the newly elected regional co-spokespersons Antonio Piu and Francesca Citroni participated, who, together with the national co-spokesperson Angelo Bonelli, argued the motion that will guide the party's intentions for the next four years.
The meeting was also attended by the President of the Region Alessandra Todde, the Mayor of Sassari Giuseppe Mascia and the Secretary of the Democratic Party, Piero Comandini.
The theme of the crowded meeting was the question “Is it a land for young people?”, an area addressed by the regional councilor for Public Works.
" Asking young people - Piu says - to stay means offering a perspective: a home, a dignified job, a school that speaks the language of the present, an economy capable of welcoming innovation, cooperation and sustainability . Politics has no longer managed to be attractive for people but above all for them".
The representative of Europa Verde then focused on the work done to listen to the territories, not to collect membership cards but requests. "A growing party like ours needs a mature ruling class - he adds - capable of taking on the challenges that our time imposes on us. A ruling class that knows how to take root in the territory, that becomes a point of reference for citizens. Today we are the third force of the progressive field, with a new and growing responsibility: we must strengthen this space, expand it, make it a home for those seeking a coherent, radical and concrete alternative. The path in alliance with Sinistra Italiana within Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra has proven to be a happy political intuition, building roots, credibility and consensus".
For Francesca Citroni, deputy mayor of Santu Lussurgiu, social and gender equity are fundamental. "The difficulty of administering a small municipality as a woman is equivalent to the difficulty of administering a large reality," she explains. "We must focus on the opportunities that small communities can offer, to restore hope and a future to young people."
The motion has seven points and, as reported in the congress, "was born from the urgency of reversing the trends that are emptying the Sardinian communities, marginalizing entire generations, reducing the island to a land of passage. But it was also born from the hope that another direction is possible".
For Bonelli, the drama is the young graduates who continue the island and Italy. "We as Europa Verde want to bring them home - he declares - to ensure that they contribute to the economic revival of this important region. And we can do this by investing in new technologies, in innovation, in the ecological transition, lowering the cost of energy to bring companies back to producing with new technologies and provide new jobs".
"Today it is important to reaffirm the unity of our coalition," Alessandra Todde finally reports, "and this congress will also contribute to a substantial change of pace in the coming months."
Starting today, the two co-spokespeople will begin a territorial journey to kick off the provincial congressional sessions that will take place by the end of the year.
